AP Lit. Allusion Poem

See
You’re just filled with class
I’m just trying to learn the lesson
If the subject was your body
Damn, I’d be paying attention
But clearly self-esteem, continues to be my issue
The way that my mind envisions a future in a life with you
Apollo convinced Psyche to marry a monster
Perhaps he could do the same for me
Struck me with an arrow, piercing my bone marrow
Strengthening what this love came to be
So I,
Bet it all on everything
Told you that I had loved you
And you replied “I think I feel the same.
Your genuine generosity,
All the nice talks you had with me,
Simply the way you say my name.”
Beauty fell for the beast,
It wasn’t based on my appearance
I proved that I had loved her
Cause my intentions were clearest
Worried about my looks
Your rejection I was fearing
People say that love is blind,
But I enjoy what I am seeing
